The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears to win the NFC football championship and get their ticket to the Super Bowl 2011, aka SUPERBOWL XLV, the 45th annual celebration of American football league’s gruelling 17 weeks of regular season and 4 weeks of post season madness.

Final Score: Packers 21, Bears 14. note: the Packers were 3 point underdogs going into the game. Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears NFC 2011 video highlights.

Rodgers, Aaron Green Bay PackersThis time around, it was new quarter back Aaron Rodgers and not Brett Favre who won the game for the Pack. Aaron Rodgers was equally impressive as the classic young Favre during his heyday, He ran for a touchdown. He made a touchdown-saving tackle. And he was better than three Bears quarterbacks in leading the Green Bay Packers to the Super Bowl with an ugly-but-beautiful 21-14 victory Sunday over the Chicago Bears.

It was the 182nd meeting in the league’s most historic rivalry, and the stakes had never been bigger. The Packers (13-6) are now headed to Dallas, Texas for Super Bowl XLV, holding ultimate bragging rights over their rivals to the South. The Packers will play the winner of Sunday night’s AFC title game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rodgers proved ready for the biggest day of his brief but impressive career as the successor to Brett Favre(notes), even if his final stat line didn’t look impressive after an ugly, hard-fought game. He threw for 244 yards with two interceptions, but his play in the first half put the Bears in a hole as their defense that seemed to fall for every play-action fake.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears- January 23
Brett Favre’s season is quite something, but Rodgers is still working on his season, the Green Bay Packers can yell out a big fat “we told you so”. Rodgers is the real deal and he is the future of the franchise. Rodgers on quarterback has proven he’s a winner, but is Aaron Rodgers a champion quarterback? He will lead his team into Soldier Field on Sunday to beats Jay Cutler in his backyard, can he do it? Those are the shoes Rodgers has to fill in and he will get some help. The Packers defense lead by Clay “Bloodline” Mathews and Charles Woodson is dynamite, and no one has been able to keep Mathews out of the backfield making big plays. If Rodgers can get that offense humming the Packers look damn tough.

Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears NFl Football Game Odds

This Packers Bears game is only the second time in history the Packers have met the Bears in the NFlL football playoffs, and the last time the Bears were the ones who came out on top. Cutler will be no doubt looking to have history repeat itself, as this game adds a little more incentive for him to fully establish himself the premier QB in the NFL.

Packers -3.5 Bears +3.5

Moneyline odds: Packers -190 Bears +160

New York Jets @ Pittsburgh Steelers – January 23
The Jets playoff magic continues. They defeated the New England Patriots and covered that -9 point spread most sportsbooks were offering. Can the Jets turn the trick against the Steelers? Heinze field hold Jets nation hopes to take advantage of a banged Pittsburgh offensive line. For many NFL football bettors, that’s now twice this postseason that the Jets have stung them, for others that’s now twice on the scoreboard that the Jets have come through big.

NFl Football Game Of The WeekSan Diego Chargers -2 ½ vs. New England Patriots – 73% of football handicappers believe that the Pats are one of the better NFL Week 7 picks this Sunday to cover the spread. Not me.

Maybe, I just love to be disappointed by my favoritist player, QB Phillip Rivers. Who wouldn’t with that snarky grin of his? Anyhow…the Pats’ D gives up, on average, close to 275 yards through the air and close to 110 yards on the ground. Rivers might deserve to provide the snarky grin this week.

Cincinnati Bengals +3 ½ vs. Atlanta Falcons – The Philadelphia Eagles thoroughly embarrassed the Falcons’ pass D last Sunday when racking up 31 points and 320 yards through the air.

I have to believe that the Bengals, coming off of a bye week, will be ready to take advantage of the Falcons’ secondary. The Bengals average close to 250 yards through the air as it is. They should be ready to put a beat down on the Falcons and might be one of the better NFL Week 7 picks on the moneyline.

St. Louis Rams +2 ½ vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – The Bucs were simply beaten up by the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. Sure, the Saints are a very good team and appear to have found their groove, but St. Louis has won 3 games in a row and their offense, with rookie QB Sam Bradford under center, is averaging 315 yards per game.

TB still hasn’t found a legit RB, they average only 90 yards per game on the ground, and their D gives up way to many rush yards, close to 160 per game. The Rams should roll.

San Francisco 49’ers -3 vs. Carolina Panthers – The line might end up at SF -4 when it’s all said and done. So, jump on this one early is my advice. The Niners’ D shut down a much better offense, Oakland’s, last Sunday in a 17 to 9 victory last week.

The Panthers are coming off of a bye but they just don’t have the personnel to take down SF. SF RB Frank Gore should dominate that Panther D that allows 134 yards per game on the ground.
