William Gallas was a vital member of the Chelsea squad for five years, but he never appeared settled at Stamford Bridge.

Always concerned about being played out of position at left-back rather than in his preferred position in the centre, there was constant speculation about his future with foreign newspapers quoting him on his desire to move on.
