Savage is an all-action midfielder or wingback with a direct style whose wholehearted performances got him a place in the starting line up soon after his 1997 arrival at Leicester City.

Welsh international Savage is adept at creating chances for others and, although he is a rare goalscorer himself, he offers a massive amount of attacking options with his penetrating runs.

His confident – although occasionally over-combative – style makes him a real crowd favourite, and he is yet another product of Dario Gradi’s Crewe side.
