Marcus Bent’s nomadic career took another turn in January 2006 when he moved from Everton to Charlton Athletic for £2million, rising to a possible £2.5million.
The striker, who signed a three-year contract at The Valley, had become frustrated at the lack of opportunities to play in a forward role at Goodison Park with David Moyes preferring to play just one man up front.
Bent started his career at Brentford, making 91 appearances and scoring 13 goals to earn a £300,000 move to Crystal Palace in August 1998.
