Young defender Onuoha was handed his Manchester City debut in October 2004, starting the Carling Cup tie against Arsenal aged just 17.

The player had featured in City’s pre-season game against Bury, leading to him featuring on the bench in the Premiership before his Cup debut.

Onuoha made the right-back slot his own in the City reserves early in 2003/04 with a series of strong displays.
