Sonko joined Reading from Brentford on a free transfer in 2004 and has gained cult status at the club after proving himself to be a solid central defender with great aerial ability.
The 2005/06 promotion season saw Sonko establish himself in the team and he has scored 4 goals in 85 appearances for the Royals since his arrival.
He quickly became a fans-favourite, getting the nickname ‘Superman’ for his prestigious leaps into the air to powerfully head the ball away. He even has his own “Sonko is Superman” merchandise.
