A former U-20 full-back, Armstrong is back in contention for a first team place at Sheffield United after a serious knee injury threatened his career in his first season with the Blades.
Beginning at Bury, he played 34 games and scored 1 goal before making the move to Oldham Athletic during the 2001/02 season.
He made 75 games for Oldham before catching the eye of Neil Warnock at Sheffield United. He signed for the Blades for £100,000 in 2003.
