Kilbane left Everton in August 2006 to join Wigan Athletic. It came a surprise move as the Irishman had been a first team regular at Goodison Park.
The winger began his career with hometown club Preston North End, moving to West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 1997 for £1.5million.
He was a real favourite at the Hawthorns, playing 122 games for the First Division club. His performances were always going to earn a shot at the Premiership, and in December 1999 he moved to Sunderland for £2.5million.
